Our Story

In late 2022 Tom Pereira, our founder, went through what some would call an early life crisis. This lead him down a path of wanting to push his own limits and see what he was capable of.

As Tom was had never been much of a cardio styled athlete, he thought that there was no better way to test himself than to push into the unknown world of running. This all seemed to simple though, and so to take it a step further, he set a goal for himself and created his own 3x3 challenge.

This challenge consisted of 3 feats, in 3 different countries over 3 weeks. Starting by completing the Brisbane marathon, he then flew to Tanzania where he summited the roof of Africa - Mount Kilimanjaro, following shortly after by an attempt at the Cape Town 13 Peaks solo 100km Ultra marathon. This was all after only 6 months of training endurance sports for the first time in his life.

Unfortunately for Tom, after finishing his marathon in 3 hours 30 minutes and summiting Mount Kilimanjaro only 2 weeks later, he failed his solo ultra marathon attempt after a strenuous 24hours and 75km.

This challenge was not in vein though, as it sparked an interest in endurance sports and mountaineering. It did not take long for this to lead into research into high altitude training (sometimes called hypoxic training). Not only did he see the benefits for those wanting to explore high altitude mountains, but also for all endurance athletes.

Although this concept is still in it's infancy - Tom believe that it is of great benefit for those wanting to push their limits. When trying to obtain a hypoxic generator for this purpose though, it became clear that the Australian market had not been exposed to these machines yet. Thus leading to the formation of Hypoformance and the company that is now here to help you push your endurance limits!
